Snails & Lichen, Swiss repeat surface design.
I created this design by making custom brushes in Photoshop from abstract and playful snail, slug, lichen critter, pill bug, fern, and other forest floor plant sketches in my sketchbook. I changed the size and rotation of my custom brush strokes and extended their spacing setting to get the effect of single stampings of each motif in varied positions and sizes to create the design.
The single tile I designed is shown in the top square. The bottom square shows multiple repeats of the same tile to reveal the overall pattern strategy.
